About QCA

     

The Friends of Foundation is a newly formed group developed to support the efforts of the Queen City Academy Charter School.

QCA is the oldest charter school in Plainfield, QCA was chartered in 1998 and now has 256 students grades K-8. 

As of June 2013, there are still 171 students on the wait list for the past academic year.

We do more with less, our school gets 90% funding per pupil compared to traditional public schools

We are the oldest charter in union county

QCA is the only NJ Charter that has been awarded Middle States Accreditation.

Middle State Accreditation - MSA accreditation process challenges schools and school systems to meet and exceed uniform world-class standards, while reflecting the distinctive cultures of their institutions and school communities, from the rural United States to a bustling Middle Eastern city. Middle States Accreditation is a valuable, coveted achievement among traditional and nontraditional schools.

80% of the students qualify for the free and reduced rate lunch program.

What is a charter school? Charter schools are independent public schools allowed freedom to be more innovative, while being held accountable for improved student achievement.

As of September 2012 there are over 30,000 students enrolled in public charter schools in NJ.

A charter school is open to all students on a space-available basis, with preference given to children who reside in the district in which the charter school is located. we conduct a lottery three times a year for available spots.

All classroom teachers, principals and professional support staff must hold New Jersey certification
